Default FoW Advice

Hi,

A number of guildies and I are keen to complete the 11 quests in the FoW for the HoM title and end chest, but havent attempted them before.

A few of us have been there for farming and having a look around but never to make an effort to complete quests, so I have a few questions I was hoping could be answered:

1) Would all the quests be able to be completed in one visit to the FoW and how long approximately would they take?

2) If we didnt complete all the quests in one visit, do they pick up where they left off or do they all need to be started over again?

Thx in advance

1: really depends on the team build, if youre running a balanced team and following wiki, youre looking at around 2 hours

2; you need to complete them all in 1 visit, they dont save

2 hours is optimistic for a first time through. You're probably looking at 3+ once you include all the referring to wiki, drink & snack breaks your team will want to take.

Try and plan a route and order of Q before you enter. Also try and take the Hunter's Q as early on as possible as this has you trailing around almost all of the FoW chasing shard wolves, so is best done while completing all the other Q rather than at a later point.

Although not nearly as capricious as some of the UW quests, you will still be provided ample opportunities to royally screw up FoW quests. Therefore, it is very much recommended to have a team leader who knows where to go, what to do and in which order. 2 hours for a first time full trip is indeed too optimistic, you should reserve at least 3 and tread carefully.

Done at first try with a friend and our heroes in 3 hours. We only used 4 leaf clovers to erase some DP from heroes...Careful pulling and watch for patrols and sould be really easy.

If everybody is there for the first time, then Alt + tab wiki pages.

I clear out most of the areas before taking the quests. It's much easier but more time consuming. We usually spend 2 hours in there, but take your time to learn terrain and pop up locations. If you don't have someone familiar with FOW, make sure to read wiki carefully first. Enjoy! FOW is fun and pretty profitable. If you have a summon merchant, TAKE IT! The Eternal Forgemaster isn't a merchant until the end.

The first time I cleared FoW was with my brother and 6 Heroes. We took the time to completely clear each and every enemy and pop-up before taking any quests. It took us ~4 hours or so, but we went very slowly.

yea it will be a lot of time, make sure you find people wanting to invest the time and money in consumables. I am thinking around 4 hours. Other than that i would say its not worth the try. You guys can get into more experience groups with meta builds. it really helps with perma sins w/ SS, nukers and splint barragers with monks to help out - if you do decide to try it. Also have one person read wiki to find ouyt the directions and the best way of doing it.

Thx all for the advice and tips.

We will definitely give it ago some time soon. Generally not in it for a profit or speed clear, just want to be able to say we have completed the FoW, one of the original core elite areas in the game, before GW2 is released.

So we'll allow 4 hours and take it nice and easy pulling groups. Clearing the areas and then taking quests sounds like a plan too.

Cheers

Umm. First time for me took ~8hours with some pugs in 2005-2006.

But with current balanced builds. anyone who has played PvE should be able get 1.5-2h run.

id recommend at least one person who been there before who knows the quests and whats needs to be done if dont have one that knows its too easy to screw up and get kicked and have to start over again. there is a quest with the griffins where its best to have one guy to keep them back while the rest of the group clears the path and without knowing how to do this. and the wailing lord starts as an enemy but you must kill all the guys around him and not kill him its easy to kill him if he dies you leave fow. its worth at least finding one person who has done all the quests and can lead you through it. the forgemaster quest dont stand near him when defending the temple cause the ss that gets put on him can kill him without you knowing it.

It should take you no more than 4 and a half hours, thoth. That is with careful pulling, no cons whatsoever (I'd suggest bringing some DP remover and possibly Resurrection Scrolls to negate the need for a Rez on any players' skillbars, but other cons aren't needed if you aren't doing a speedclear), clearing all the enemies from FoW before doing any quests that could be helped (the quest given by Rastigan the Eternal triggers as soon as you get close to the Temple close to where you zone in, it can't be helped, but do not talk to Rastigan, let him come to you after you've killed all the Shadow Army in the surrounding area, chances are, he'll move towards you while you're fighting the Shadow Rangers and Abyssals up next to the Temple - idiot NPC). This includes going back to each area to finish the Shard Wolf quest (which can take forever if you aren't doing it during the other quests and you don't have a party-wide IMS boost). This also includes smoke breaks and bio breaks.

I do FoWSC quite often, that usually takes 45 minutes with a decent team. For that you basically need 4 RoJ, 1 HB/UA, a Main Tank to go with the RoJ, and two Terra tanks who go and do solo areas themselves

Finished it today for the first time with two friends and heroes - stalled a lot for drink breaks, bathroom breaks, checked wiki several times to make sure we weren't going the wrong way...

Still finished it in ~3h despite friend lagging.

I took the Shard Wolf quest and then did it alongside the other quests. My suggestion is that you check the wiki carefully so you don't end up having to spend half the time running all over the place - like, say, the Shard Wolf quest, you might as well get it early and finish it alongside the others.

And yeah, it's a kick when you finish it just for the sake of finishing it. (: Good luck and have fun!

When farming for shards for some friends to get FoW armor, we cleared repeatedly using 4 SoJ smiter monks, necro/rit healer and an ele. Monks all used signets, You move like a dwarf, assassin support, and mantra of inscriptions (can post skill bar if anyone is interested). The first run took about 3 hours, the second about 2 and a half, from then most were done in around two hours with no cons needed.
